If you're looking for an affordable compact digital camera with some interesting capabilities I'm goint to recommend you consider the Sony DSC-WX80, first introduced at CES 2013. It's got 10fps burst shooting, 128000 maximum ISO and a sub $200 starting point.
The CMOS sensor features 20.1 megapixels (a little bit too much by my taste, since pixels are too small for great picture quality) and can record 1080p videos. The lens is capable of 8X zoom, pretty good for such a small camera. The WiFi connectivity ensures you can easily and wirelessly transfer photos between the camera and your smartphone or laptop.
